Above is a scene from last nights, LAST performance of imagination theater. This is a long time series of locally produced radio dramas. Mom and I were there as part of my Christmas present. It was a good time.
I started listening to theater of the mind type radio shows when I was in grade school. At that time, the choices were old shows from the mid century, pre-TV days. I listened to, depending on the day of the week, The Shadow, Green Lantern, Sherlock Holmes and others. You really could just close your eyes and imagine the story and visualize the action.
Locally,, Jim French, a long time radio host on KIRO, KVI and KIXI formed a local company of actors and other radio announcers to create new dramas in the style of those classic shows of the past. An early series was 'The Adventures of Harry Nile'. This was first performed in the early 70's. It was fun listening to new stores in that radio show style.

Pretty cool. There's a lot of good podcasts out now that have a similar format.
