Duck duck goose

You guys have definitely set the bar with blogging! After reading your posts, you're going on hikes and reading Shakespeare and going to London and I played duck duck goose today! Haha!!

Right now I'm with a kindergarten class that's mixed with mid level kiddos and general education kiddos. I've got kids that might be autistic or have behavior challenges, they might be aggressive or runners. My job is to pretty much keep them alive!

Today we had one of our kiddos needing the classroom to himself, so we had to take the other 10 kiddos out to an emergency recess! Since the basketballs were already put away, I had the bright idea to play duck duck goose! I mean, what can go wrong with that, playing a hitting and chasing game with 10 mid level kids?! 😐 We started, my little guy was "it", he went around the circle three times with "duck" until he picked a goose! I thought, "they'll calmly run, the one kid will sit, the other kid will be "it" and we'll do it again!! HAHA!! When the "goose" kid was picked, EVERYONE got up and ran in 10 different directions!! So we're chasing them all over the playground, totally bewildered that this happened! It was so funny!! We decided today, they are going to play more games more often and experience what it means to be 5!

Great idea Pat, this is fun!! I probably won't have any Shakespeare stories or me on top of Mt.Si, but I always have plenty of funny experiences with my kiddos!!

  1. Wow. I never would've guessed that the kids weren't clear on the rules of duck duck goose! I can only imagine the anarchy that would ensue from red light green light or heads up seven up.

  2. Ok you smarties, I have to confess, that I have no idea how to play Duck, Duck, Goose. Never played it, don't know how it works. Something similar to the chicken dance maybe?
