Fire Tacos

I'm having fire tacos for dinner tonight. If you haven't had them, and most likely you haven't because I like you guys and don't see any need to inflict unnecessary pain on anyone, but they're pretty good.  Brad can attest. If you're really curious post a comment and I'll put up another cooking video and you can go at it.

It got me thinking about how living in our modern era we don't have to experiment with random plants, vegetables or other foods to see if it's a sweet strawberry or poison ivy. It's all been done for us thousands of years before we came around. The experimentation that had to go into it is mind blowing.

Ancient Romans would eat garlic for all kinds of health reasons with virtually no science to back it up, they just knew. But now we can break it down, see what it's made of, test it in a controlled experiment and determine scientifically what the Romans knew all along, that it is beneficial to human health. I never have to wonder how to cook a steak, what sauce compliments it, what side dishes go well, etc. All I have to do is look it up.

Living in a time with virtually unlimited information at our fingertips probably would be inconceivable for ancient generations and it'll be interesting to watch how the era we're living through shapes generations to come.

Here's an interesting wiki article on the origins of different foods.

  1. The information is there, I just wish I could understand it better. If it doesn't come from a box I am useless.
